The Rangers fans here in the Transfer Tavern really rather happy about the nature of Steven Gerrard’s rebuild of the club this summer. Indeed, the punters propping up the bar believe their side really do have a strong chance of battling for the title under his watch.
Well, such expectancy was heightened after comments from reputable fan account Four Lads Had a Dream on Twitter. While most of the additions thus far have been in areas further up the pitch, they claim both Gerrard and director of football Mark Allen are plotting a major spend in central defence.

The Light Blues have certainly struggled in that area of late and the idea of seeing players such as Bruno Alves and the departed David Bates replaced has gone down a storm amongst those propping up our bar. As you can imagine, that kind of news really has got the Rangers fans here in the bar thinking they can challenge for the title.
Landlord’s Verdict:
With Connor Goldson linked, perhaps this means Rangers are going to continue reshaping their defence. If they can do that and Mark Allen pull something out of the bag, then Gerrard certainly would have the kind of platform on which to build a title challenge.
