Rangers will be delighted with yesterday’s performance as they secured an emphatic 3-0 victory over Livingston in front of home support at Ibrox.
The Bluenoses remain in the race for the Scottish Premiership title as they continue to pile the pressure on Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic. And, to make things even better, it appears as if Rangers won’t wave goodbye to Alfredo Morelos in January, as according to the Daily Mail, Steven Gerrard is determined to retain Alfredo Morelos.
Steven Gerrard insisted on Saturday night he is ready to butt heads with everyone, including his own board, to ensure Rangers resist the temptation of cashing in early on Alfredo Morelos.
Morelos was the subject of a rejected £8 million offer from Chinese side Beijing Renhe in January, and he could receive even more interested in the New Year.
But, this is what Gerrard had to say about the South American’s future:
“I’m not going to name any of the players I played with (in comparison) because I don’t think it’s fair on Alfredo, but what I will say is I’ll fight tooth and nail to keep him here for as long as possible,’ said Gerrard.
“I’ll fall out with people to keep him here. That’s how much I like and respect him, but I also understand every player has his price.
“I want to keep him here as long as possible because he makes my job a lot easier.”
THE VERDICT:
Alfredo Morelos has been the standout performer for Rangers this season as he continues to establish himself as one of the hottest topics in Scottish football.
The South American has been the subject of interest from a number of clubs in the past and could receive even more interest in January, but the Bluenoses need to hold onto him if they are to stand any chance of securing silverware.
Rangers supporters will be delighted that Gerrard is willing to do everything he possibly can to retain the striker in January, as it just goes to show how invested he is in the club and its future.
