Glasgow Rangers: Adrian Grbic confirms intention to leave Clermont this summer

Glasgow Rangers target Adrian Grbic has confirmed that he is looking to leave his current club Clermont this summer.

The striker was in fantastic form for the Ligue 2 side before the French season was brought to a premature end. In 26 games in the division, he bagged 17 goals, which was only beaten by one other player in the whole league. The ‘Gers have been linked with a move, with the French side said to be looking for €10m (£9m) for his services.

Grbic since seems to have confirmed that he is looking for a move. Talking exclusively to La Montagne, he said:

“For a footballer, it is normal and logical to try to climb a stage each season. It is normal to want to progress, to play in a higher division. So I think the time has come for me to reach a new level.

“Next season will be crucial for the rest of my career. For me, the choice of the championship is not the most important. The most important thing will first be to go to a club – Ligue 1 in France or abroad – where I can play to be able to take a new step.”

For all of those pursuing the former Austria under-21 international, including the ‘Gers, this is fantastic news. At 23 years of age, he is still in the relatively infancy of his career, and whilst his best performances to date may have only been in the French second tier, his goalscoring rate is still impressive.

With Alfredo Morelos potentially on the way out this summer with interest from Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, a new quality forward may be needed. Grbic, valued at just £1.8m by Transfermarkt, could be that man.
