The Arsenal fans were absolutely furious in the Transfer Tavern last night after their side suffered a shock defeat against Swansea at the Liberty Stadium.
The Gunners ambitions of finishing inside the top-four this year were dealt a potentially fatal blow yesterday as they lost 3-1 to relegation-threatened Swansea in the Premier League. The Swans result propelled them into 17th place and outside of the relegation zone for the first time since October. For Arsenal, the result has left them 8 points adrift of 4th placed Liverpool with just 13 matches left to play, and their chances of returning to the Champions League this year look almost non-existent at this stage.
Swansea were brilliant once again in their second giant-killing victory in as many games, but they were given a huge helping hand by Peter Cech along the way. With the fixture deadlocked at 1-1, Cech gave Jordan Ayew a gift of a goal to fire Swansea into a 2-1 lead after 61 minutes.
After the ball was played towards his feet, Cech attempted to clear his lines with his left-boot, but instead he completely scuffed his effort and the ball dropped perfectly into the path of Ayew who was left with the simplest of tasks to stroke the ball into a half-empty net.
In the aftermath of proceedings, the Arsenal supporters were understandably furious with the result and performance of their side, but they were particularly angry with Cech for his second-half error.
And The Gunners faithful wasted no time in letting their feelings be known on Twitter.
Here’s what the Arsenal supporters had to say about Cech following his shambolic mistake last night…
Give Macey a chance or try Mertesacker in goal, I just don’t care anymore, it can’t be any worse than Cech or Ospina.

Any other manager would have put sentimentality aside and got rid of Cech. He was finished two years ago.

To be fair, almost every time Petr Cech receives a ball at his feet it looks like disaster in the making, so fair play for avoiding it for this long.

I adore Welbeck – but he rarely scores goals.
I adore Cech – but he really is finished.
I used to adore Wenger but that stopped years ago – Hull Cup Final was the day he should have resigned.
I actually despair at our downfall..

Cech has reached football menopause. Retire this man.
