The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern have all come together to show unity for their injured star, Manuel Lanzini. The Argentine international ruptured his cruciate ligament whilst in training with the national team, ruining his chances of playing in a first World Cup and robbing him of playing alongside football’s greatest ever player, Lionel Messi, on football’s biggest stage.

Lanzini will no doubt be devastated and no footballer should ever have to go through what the West Ham star is going through currently. The 25-year-old’s head is probably all over the place and the reality is that he’ll have to wait another four years before getting another chance at playing in a World Cup, by which time he will be 29 and be entering the come down in his career before international retirement.
Despite the obvious heartbreak that the London Stadium star is going through, he doesn’t have to look too far for support. Every West Ham fan out there has been showing their support for the man who brings a luxury touch to their midfield, and they’ll be eagerly awaiting his return to first-team action next year as they hope he’ll be available to play towards the back end of the 2018/19 season.

The West Ham fans propping our bar up provide a perfect example that there are good people in football, as well as hooligans and racists. The club have been fully supportive of Lanzini and the fans will be eagerly awaiting his return, whenever it may be.
