Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has confirmed that Joe Aribo will be missing for up to six weeks with an ankle issue.
The ‘Gers have had a fantastic start to the season, topping the Premiership with five wins and one draw in their first six matches. Aribo was available for the first three of those clashes, impressing as he scored once, but he has not played since.

Gerrard has now dropped a bombshell by revealing that the Nigeria international will not be available for another four to six weeks. He said:
“Joe Aribo has had a setback with an ankle strain and will be missing for 4-6 weeks.
“It is a big blow with Joe (Aribo) he is a player we rate highly, it is actually good news as was a situation that it could have required surgery but he doesn’t and we hope he can be back in four weeks. It will be a blow however as he is a major talent.”
This is no doubt a blow to the Ibrox outfit. It is no coincidence that the only game that the ‘Gers have failed to win this term was the first one that the 24-year-old missed. Whilst they have managed to cope without him since then, he is a player that Gerrard will have wanted available as soon as possible.

Brian Laudrup has pointed out that the ‘Gers need some creativity in the middle of the pitch, and they will now have to make do without the one player who seems best able to to provide that. Hopefully, the 54-time Scottish champions will be able to continue their form moving forward in Aribo’s absence.
