Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has said that Jamie Barjonas is better than what he has been showing at the Ibrox outfit.
The 21-year-old shone for the Gers on Saturday, as he scored in the the Ibrox outfit’s 2-0 victory against Nice in the Veolia Trophy. So far, he has made just nine appearances for the 54-time Scottish champions in all competitions – his time to make a real impression at the club is running out, especially with his contract set to end next year.

Gerrard, though, still believes in him, as he said after the match. He told Rangers TV:
“I’m pleased for Jamie. This is the first time since I have been in a first-team game that he has really shown personality. We know he has got that, we think he is better than what he’s been showing. So he will stay around us a bit longer and we’ll try and get him a few more opportunities.”
So far, a 19-game spell with Raith Rovers, where he scored two goals and provided three assists, is his best period in professional football – he is yet to make a real impact. There have been reports linking him with a loan move away from Ibrox this summer, but these comments indicate that he will be given the chance to show he has what it takes to make it at a club like the Gers.

It is all well and good doing it in a pre-season match, though – it is different altogether influencing the game when it really counts. That, now, is surely the aim for the midfielder.
