Glasgow Rangers legend Barry Ferguson has said that he has been impressed by Brandon Barker during pre-season.
Ferguson, who won 15 major trophies at Ibrox across two spells at the club, has been writing for The Daily Record about his thoughts on the Gers’ warm-up preparations for the new campaign, and it seems that the former Manchester City youngster has impressed him.

He wrote:
“To that end, Steven will have been pleased to have seen players who were out in the cold last season stake their claims in recent matches.
“Again, I stress it’s only pre-season but Brandon Barker has impressed me so far and along with Jamie Murphy and Jordan Jones, he must be ready to contribute.”
Barker has featured heavily during this pre-season, and praise from a Gers hero such as Ferguson certainly shows that he is making a step in the right direction. The 23-year-old has come under criticism from the 54-time Scottish champions’ supporters after making just 12 appearances in all competitions during his first campaign at the club – it is vital that he begins to show why he was taken north of the border.

As Ferguson says, with this big campaign coming up it is important that the likes of Barker contribute. He has started to show what he is about in pre-season – now he must display that when it really matters.
