Glasgow Rangers were left raging when the Scottish Premiership was brought to a premature end last month.
As it turned out, the SPFL concluded that the top four divisions should not continue as it was no longer safe to do so. Rangers’ bitter rivals Celtic were crowned champions and Hearts were promptly relegated to the Championship.

Naturally, these unprecedented circumstances have unearthed plenty of other talking points, such as James Anderson’s emergency investment and the club accusing the Scottish governing body of corruption, but SPFL CEO Neil Doncaster has stood his ground so far.
Now, former ‘Gers star Andy Halliday has waded into the debate. Speaking to talkSPORT’s David Tanner, the former Rangers man believes Celtic’s title should come with an asterisk.
He said “Celtic were the favourites. But if you can’t finish the season, I’m unsure how you can award a title?”
“There’s definitely an asterisk over it.”
The 28-year-old returned to Ibrox on a free transfer from Bradford City, and went on to make over 150 appearances for the Light Blues, scoring 18 goals and creating 13 assists in all competitions, before recently leaving the club.
Halliday admitted he finds it difficult to understand how a champion can be decided despite the fact the season hasn’t been completed (GlasgowLive).
Naturally, his latest verdict has divided the RFC fan base. One fan tweeted “the truth hurts,” while another added Scottish football is a “disaster” and lamented “what a joke of a league,” – unsurprising given the SPFL’s decision favoured their bitter rivals.

“Favourites” is a strong word. Were they really favorites? 13 points is not a huge lead… They needed at least 1 victory and 7 draws from their last 8 games, and already lost a match this year. Well maybe not ‘lost’ but had a couple of close games…
