Frank McAvennie has said that Glasgow Rangers defender Connor Goldson is not good enough for the Premier League amidst interest from West Ham.
Goldson has been linked with a move south of the border recently, with it being said that he could command a fee of up to £6m for his services. This comes after 105 appearances for the Ibrox outfit, with him becoming a very important member of Steven Gerrard’s first-team squad.

McAvennie, though, believes he is not good enough to make the switch to the Premier League. He told Football Insider:
“I do not think Conor is good enough for the Premier League.
“Every week there is so much pressure on you. Especially at a club like West Ham because they are down there.”
It is a big statement from the 60-year-old. Of course, the Scottish Premiership is not as competitive as the English top flight, but £3.6m-valued Goldson – as per Transfermarkt – appeared in all 29 matches last term as the Gers conceded just 19 goals, the joint-least in the whole division. He has also appeared in every Europa League match, helping them keep clean sheets against Feyenoord, Porto and Braga.

Of course, the pressure is truly on week-in week-out in the Premier League, but there is no reason why Goldson couldn’t become a solid option for the Hammers. Gerrard, though, will hope that he can hold on to him.
