Glasgow Rangers: Livingston manager confirms interest in Robby McCrorie

Livingston manager Gary Holt has said that he wants to take Robby McCrorie on loan from Glasgow Rangers.

McCrorie has stated that he wants to leave on loan this summer after signing a new contract at the club, and there are said to be a number of clubs interested in the 22-year-old, which Holt himself says. McCrorie actually spent the second half of last season with Livingston on a temporary basis, keeping two clean sheets in eight Scottish Premiership matches.

From whom did Glasgow Rangers sign Brian Laudrup?

Speaking to the West Lothian Courier (via The Daily Record), Holt said:

“Bringing Robby back is something we’ve been talking about and trying to get done but he’s got a lot of suitors.

“He’s a great young keeper and there’s plenty of clubs after him. Hopefully we can be in pole position to get it done.

“He was here last season, he’d know what he’d be working with and he certainly enjoyed his time here so we’re hoping that if he’s going out on loan then all that plays a factor.”

“He can see what we’re trying to do at this club and how we want to build it, so it’s just a case of needing to wait and see what happens on that front but it’s definitely something that we’d be interested in getting done if Rangers made it possible.”

At the moment, the Gers are already sorted in the goalkeeping position. Allan McGregor is the undisputed number one, and Jon McLaughlin has just recently arrived on a free transfer from Sunderland – with those two ahead of him in the pecking order, it is unlikely McCrorie would see much playing time this upcoming campaign.

As such, a short-term move away would be beneficial, especially if that time can be spent in the Scottish Premiership. At 22, he is likely to be the long-term future for Steven Gerrard and co – experience in the same league could well be vital.
