Alan Hutton believes that Christian Maghoma could turn into a world-beater if he were to make the move to Glasgow Rangers.
The Gers were said to be interested in the central defender, who is now available on a free transfer – the Ibrox outfit could well be in the need of a new addition to the heart of the back four after Nikola Katic was ruled out for the foreseeable future following a training injury.

And Hutton believes that, if Maghoma moved to the 54-time Scottish champions, he could turn into a special player. He told Football Insider:
“I’ve heard a little bit about him, he went two years ago in hunt of first-team football so fair play to the boy for being so young and heading over to Poland to play, I think it’s brilliant.
“He’s meant to be big, physical, strong and it’s pretty much a no-brainer. If you can bring someone in that’s talented, you know he’s got talent and by all accounts he’s played well over there – if you can bring him in for a little amount, especially wages-wise, you wouldn’t have thought you’d have to break the bank.
“It could be a gem, it could be a rough diamond which, over the past, I think Rangers and Celtic have been really good at finding so the injury kind of forced his hand to bring someone in and this looks like it could be a good fit. Playing under Gerrard, he’s going to push a young boy on to go and impress.
“Hopefully he turns into a world-beater.”
This does seem a little far-fetched from Hutton – there is no real indication that Maghoma will become a future star. He failed to make a single senior appearance for Tottenham whilst on their books, and although he made 39 appearances in all competitions during his time at Arka Gdynia, the side continue to struggle towards the bottom of the Ekstraklasa.

Perhaps there is something everyone else has missed, and on a free transfer there is little to no risk, but Hutton should avoid putting such big expectations on the 22-year-old’s shoulders.
