Scotland U21 coach Scott Gemmill has said that Glasgow Rangers’ Glenn Middleton is very frustrated with his current situation at Ibrox.
The 20-year-old has been called up for international duty despite not playing a single minute for the Gers so far this campaign. All in all, he has made 28 appearances for the 54-time Scottish champions, scoring five goals and providing five assists, but he did not play for them at all last season either.

Discussing the winger’s situation with the Gers, Gemmill explained:
“I had a meeting with Glenn on Thursday and I was so impressed with him because he’s having to deal with a lot. But I tell you I spoke to a young man who is more determined than ever, more resilient than ever and more motivated than ever to keep going.”
“He’s not where he wants to be right now, but I am very confident he is handling the situation in a mature way. He’s very frustrated, but only because he wants to play football.
“We have got a really good young player who we are all trying to help maximise his potential…The guy I was speaking to is more determined than ever. When you look at players’ attitude and professionalism and mentality, Glenn is a real leading example.”
It seems like Middleton is approaching a crossroads in his career right now. It seems quite obvious that he does not have a future at the club, and as such he should be looking for a departure away from the Gers.

Given he is an 11-time U21 international, there would surely not be a lack of suitors to sign him. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the former Norwich City man.
