Glasgow Rangers: Morelos speaks out on future

Alfredo Morelos says that, right now, he is focused on Glasgow Rangers despite the continuing speculation surrounding his future.

Morelos signed for the Gers in 2017 for the fee of £1.08m and has been a revelation ever since then. In 137 games, he has managed 77 goals, being Steven Gerrard’s go-to man in front of goal and is now valued at £13.5m. However, that record has attracted plenty of interest from across Europe, with the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid and Everton all linked.

Now, Morelos has spoken out on his future at Ibrox, and he appears to be concentrating on the 54-time Scottish champions. He told El VBAR Caracol:

“There are a lot of rumors about my future, but right now I am focused on Rangers.”

This would appear to be good news for Steven Gerrard. With Jermain Defoe currently out injured, Morelos is his only senior, available striker, and even if the 37-year-old were fit, the Colombia international would still be Gerrard’s first choice.

Of course, in today’s market, words don’t mean too much – this does not confirm that Morelos will not be on his way out of the club this summer. However, it is at least a positive that he has chosen not to discuss his future openly in the public.
