Ex-Glasgow Rangers striker Marco Negri has said he would like to see Alfredo Morelos join Lazio and expects him to leave this summer.
Morelos has been fantastic for the Gers ever since making the move to Ibrox for £1.08m in 2017 – he has 77 goals in 137 matches, and managed 29 last season alone before the campaign was prematurely brought to a close. However, those performances have attracted the attention of the likes of the Serie A outfit, as well as Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid.

Negri, though, believes the Rome-based side is the perfect place for him. He told The Sunday Post:
“Morelos is a young man who has already done very well.
“He has great physical strength – an advantage when you are playing in Scotland where the defenders can be very tough – and an excellent ability to turn chances into goals.
“His scoring ratio is very high and, while numbers are not everything in football, they do count.
“They will have been carefully analysed by a lot of clubs and, because his numbers are so good, I think Morelos’ experience at Rangers is ending.
“He will probably change clubs and I’d like to see him in Italy. Lazio can be the right team for him.
“Why? Because I believe Simone Inzaghi is an excellent coach. We have already seen the work he has done on Felipe Caicedo.”
Lazio have done rather well this campaign in Italy as they currently sit in the top four, and they are just one win away from securing Champions League football. However, other than Ciro Immobile, who has scored 32 goals in all competitions this term, they lack firepower – the next highest scorer is Caicedo with nine.

As such, a new forward could well be needed, and Morelos’ record would certainly fit the bill. However, this is not exactly what Steven Gerrard and Ross Wilson will want to hear. For £20m, though, they would perhaps not be too upset if he were to depart.
