Glasgow Rangers: Charlie Miller believes the Gers should sell Morelos

Ex-Glasgow Rangers player Charlie Miller believes the Gers should sell Alfredo Morelos if they receive a bid of £15m or £20m this summer.

Morelos has been one of Steven Gerrard’s star players since he became manager in 2018. The Colombia international was the club’s top goalscorer with 29 goals in all competitions last season, and he now has 77 strikes in 137 games since making the move to Ibrox for £1.08m in 2017. As such, he has attracted the attention of plenty of clubs in Europe, with the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid previously mentioned.

Talking to The Daily Record, Miller has been discussing the 24-year-old, and he believes that if the offer is right, the 54-time Scottish champions should move him on. He said:

“If you can get £15m or £20m for Morelos, you are taking it, aren’t you? Especially as there seems to be some interest in other strikers at the moment.

“Morelos is special at times and lets himself down at others. You look and think he’s learned and then something happens.

“If he’d have stayed up against Celtic and scored in December, he’d have been flying coming back, but he returned not looking himself.”

From Steven Gerrard’s point of view, Morelos would be a hard player to replace, but you can certainly understand Miller’s way of thinking. With six red cards to his name at Ibrox, the former HJK Helsinki man certainly has a short temper, and that sum of money could be put to good use across the whole squad.

Morelos has reportedly turned down a move to Qatar recently, so he perhaps isn’t that eager to move too quickly. His future, though, is likely to be in question throughout the whole transfer window.
