Glasgow Rangers: Zungu’s agent confirms talks with several clubs

Glasgow Rangers target Bongani Zungu has a “big chance” of leaving current club Amiens this summer, according to his agent Alexis Ramalingam.

The Gers have been linked with a move for the South Africa international, with it even being said they are in talks with the Ligue 1 outfit to sign him – they are reportedly in negotiations over the price, with the French side looking for around €4m (£3.6m) to €5m (£4.5m) to part ways with the midfielder.

Now, his agent has hinted that his future lies elsewhere, either at another club in France or somewhere else in Europe. Ramalingam told Kickoff.com:

“The official position is that he only has one year left on his contract with Amiens,”

“So for now, they are going down to the second division, there is a big chance that Bongani will be leaving but we can’t comment about any interested clubs until the move is done because every club asks for discretion.

“There’s a big possibility that he leaves France this summer but we can’t comment about any clubs for now in order to respect to the clubs we are in talks with.

“There’s interest in Ligue 1 and in other parts of Europe but I just can’t reveal where for now.”

This should indicate to Steven Gerrard and Ross Wilson that Zungu himself is eager to move on from Amiens, who finished in the bottom three of France’s top tier following the premature end to the season. Ramalingam does indicate that they are in talks with several clubs, and as the Gers have previously been explicitly mentioned, they could very well be involved.

£4.5m would be a substantial fee for the Gers, but perhaps they would be able to haggle if the player himself makes a strong push to depart. It remains to be seen what the future holds for the 27-year-old.
