The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to comments made by their French target-man, Olivier Giroud. The striker has admitted that he hasn’t been living up to his own expectations since leaving Arsenal for Chelsea in January. Whilst speaking to L’Equipe (via Sky Sports) the striker said that one goal and three assists in five games is not enough.
The Chelsea fans propping our bar up have mixed feelings about Olivier Giroud. The big Frenchman joined the club to compete for a starting role in the middle of Chelsea’s front three alongside Willian and Eden Hazard but has so far struggled for consistent game time. Chelsea’s striker problem has been a frustrating one for Antonio Conte as Alvaro Morata failed to live up to the hype when he joined Stamford Bridge from the Bernabeu in summer.
Chelsea are back in action next Sunday after the international break when they face London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur. The game presents Giroud and Chelsea a brilliant opportunity to close the gap between themselves and 4th placed Spurs to just two points as they continue to aim to finish in the top four for Champions League football next season. The 31-year-old striker will be hoping he can add to his Chelsea goal tally in the game against Spurs as he looks to endear himself to the Stamford Bridge faithful.
Here’s what the Chelsea fans make of Giroud’s comments:

He has not yet gotten used to the change. We all know we need some time to get used to the new place and accustoms.

He went half a season in 2016, without a league goal, that the sort of expectations he is talking about?
