After a difficult season in front of goal for the Southampton fans here in the Transfer Tavern, you’d have thought breaking a club record to sign a striker would be excellent news. Indeed, though the signing of Guido Carillo has excited some of our punters, news emerging in regard to another forward has dampened the mood.
Over the course of the weekend, reports emerged suggesting that Premier League rivals West Ham United were in talks to bring a former St. Mary’s favourite back to England, in the shape of Graziano Pelle. The Italian, who was a popular figure on the south coast during his two years in red and white is understood to have emerged as a target in east London as they look to bring in more firepower before the January deadline.
Now out in China with Shandong Leung, the idea of seeing Pelle return to England has upset our resident Saints fans who frequent in their droves, as well as those online. With that in mind, here’s a closer look at it on Twitter.
If Pelle goes to West Ham I’m going to cry.
