Back in summer 2017, new Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha was going to work on his squad and opted to bring in a number of new players. Alfredo Morelos was one of those as he joined the club alongside the likes of Ryan Jack and Daniel Candeias, and when the Colombian signed the excitement around the club was massive.

The Gers signed the young striker for an undisclosed fee in June 2017 and the fans were absolutely beside themselves. The season beforehand had seen the Ibrox crowd calling out for a clinical striker and when Caixinha delivered them Morelos they all believed that they finally had that. His first season may have been a shaky one under the man who signed him and Graeme Murty, but he’s now thriving.
Steven Gerrard can thank his predecessor for bringing Morelos to the club, yet it’s only under the former Liverpool captain’s tutelage that the Colombian has found his feet and started scoring goals at the rate the fans know he can. His debut season saw him net a modest 18 times, however, this season around has seen him bag 20 already, and with four months of the season left he still has plenty of time to add to that.

The Gers couldn’t have been more excited when they secured the signing of Morelos and whilst he may have had a rocky first season at times, he’s now showing just what he’s all about.
