From today’s The Sun newspaper a cracking interview with Tottenham Hotspur’s favourite new boy Adebayor.
“I was not apprehensive coming here, I knew it was going to be easy. I’m a footballer and always have positive thoughts. I told myself if I came and scored goals, whether they hated me before, they would love me.”
“What I’ve done with Arsenal was fantastic. I must thank Arsene W**ger as, because of him, I became a better player and person. The people who pay me are Tottenham. If I have to score one goal, two goals or three goals to help my team win, I’ll do it.
“I’ve already apologised so many times for what happened with Manchester City. Emotions took over and I regret, to be honest, what I did. I have said that publicly, because Arsenal gave me everything.
If I have a chance to score again on Sunday, trust me I will do — but the celebration will not be the same. We’re all human and can only learn from our mistakes.
“I committed a big mistake that day but it was emotional. Nobody can accept everybody — 5,000 or 10,000 people — abusing your mother and father. I’m a striker and must score as many goals as I can. If I can get one, two, three, four, five or six against Arsenal, trust me I’ll do it and be happy to score.
Even though it is against Arsenal, it’ll be just another game.”
“The fans love me because of what I’m doing. I’m not here to be lazy. I’m here to play and show I can work hard for Tottenham.
I’m enjoying some great moments at Tottenham. I’m here for a year and at the end of the season we’ll see. It is too soon to start saying I want to stay here for the rest of my life.
“If I started saying that already, I would be a big liar and I am not that.I’ll be honest and say I want to see how the season goes. It all depends on my form.
If I score a lot of goals – for sure, maybe Tottenham will want to keep me. If I am not in form, maybe they will let me go.”
