Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been told to think again after his paltry bid for two of Croatia’s rising stars was turned down flat. Dinamo president Zdravko Mamic has vowed to keep hold of starlets Mateo Kovacic and Sime Vrsaljko at all costs.
Kovacic, 16, an attacking midfielder is known locally as the jewel in their youth systems crown and has been likened to a Croatian Lionel Messi, he has been regularly been linked with some of Europe’s top teams for some years. He is also the youngest player to ever score in the HNL league.
Vrsaljko, 18, a full-back is a regular in the Dinamo first team and the club have revealed they have already turned down bids from Manchester City, United, Spurs and Everton this season for the talented youngster. He is thought of in the same light as Luka Modric and is expected to overtake the Spurs midfielder as the darling of Croatian football.
The Gunners are believed to be plotting to re-buff there bid in order to secure the services of the talented duo, it is believed they would be willing to loan Vrsaljko back to Dinamo to continue his footballing development with the blues. It is widely thought that Zagreb would accept a bid of £20 million plus for the signatures of both players.
With this price in mind, will the Gunners find themselves at the mercy of super-spending City, who could easily outbid any of the other contenders for the Croatian Wonderkids.
