‘Hands off’, ‘Don’t touch’ - Man City fans on Twitter react to manager reports

The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting a story from Marca that claims City assistant coach, Mikel Arteta and New York City Football Club coach Patrick Vieira are both options to take over from Arsene Wenger in the summer. Neither of the pair has any experience as any experience as a manager in Europe, although they’ve both played under Wenger and have been recommended by the Frenchman.

For those who somehow haven’t heard the news yet, Arsene Wenger has announced today that he’ll be stepping down at the end of the season after 22 years in charge of Arsenal, a spell that saw him win three Premier Leagues, seven FA Cups and reach the Champions League final. It truly is the end of an era at The Emirates and now the talk starts over who will take over from the legendary Frenchman.

A number of potential candidates have been discussed by the Arsenal fans propping our bar up over the last few weeks with the likes of Diego Simeone, Carlo Ancelotti and Massimiliano Allegri all having their names thrown into the hat by expectant Arsenal fans. The next gaffer at The Emirates, though, could be a much more low-key appointment, with Arteta and Vieira both looking to make a name for themselves in management, sorting out the on-going horror show in North London could be the perfect place to start.
