Punters here in the Transfer Tavern knew they were good, but no one thought they were ready just yet to make a tittle challenge.
However, they have proven that they are for real and ready to make splashes in the Premier League.
They have youth and look to have the core of future England squads. Spurs have experience that is vital for any challenging team to have. They have a manager that is bringing the best out of young players.
Mauricio Pochettino is showcasing why every major club will want him to be their manager.
Unfortunately, this article can’t choose every deserving player that have surpassed expectations.
That’s why the locals at the Tavern needed a few more pints than usual to figure out this list. However, these FIVE players have undoubtedly shined better than the rest of the squad…..

Dele Alli
It’s astonishing that he has been playing the majority of the season as a 19-year-old.
With his 20th birthday coming up, it’s scary to imagine the potential the kid has.
He’s proven he was worth every pence paid for him and more.
Although patience must be kept here from the supporters of the Tavern, it’s hard not to get excited about his unbelievable ability.
In all competitions, he has scored seven goals and chipped in for a further eleven.
The man has scored some sublime goals and contributed in other important areas.
Being dubbed the next Steven Gerrard might be somewhat excessive, it isn’t hard to fathom why fans across England are getting excited to see his future.
Danny Rose
I’ve often criticized the English left back for being overrated.
However, he’s proving myself and others wrong with some great performances.
With Pochettino rotating his full backs, Rose has made sure he’s the first choice left back for the crucial matches. He provides in the attack whenever he can, but understands his defensive responsibilities.
He was able to win his first two England caps and looks to be in pole position to be the starting left back in Euro 2016.
What an accomplishment from someone who never thought would get an English cap. However, he’s realizing he can’t get too complacent. That won’t be a problem with a player under the watchful eye of Pochettino.
Moussa Dembele
This has been a renaissance of sorts for Moussa. He didn’t have a good season in 2014/15; however, the magical Poch has made him the driving force from the defensive midfielder position.
The supporters at the Tavern have been pleasantly impressed with his performance.
After getting a new contract this season from his impressive form early on, he has continued to show his talents in big games.
Against Liverpool, he made crucial tackles and snuffed out potential dangers by Liverpool. Dembele is becoming one of the first names on the team sheet and everyone can see why.
Erik Lamela
When the Argentine first arrived at Tottenham, he came in with big expectations after having loads of success in Serie A.
For his first two seasons at the club were ones to forget. His form was often inconsistent and it seemed like he was hurting the squad more than helping during the majority of his appearances.
However, this season has been a rather good one for him.
He has been important in providing support for Kane and others around him.
Although his domestic performances have been above average, his European performances have been outstanding.
In eight appearances in the Europa League, he has bagged six goals.
If he would be able to transfer his talents from Europe competition to domestic competition, he would be scary.
Toby Alderweireld
His transfer to Spurs caused a lot of controversy.
However, when everything settled between Southampton and Tottenham, his skills really came out.
He has been Tottenham’s best defender and although no one is surprised with the amount of quality he has, it’s been the consistent top performances he’s putting in.
At the heart of the defence, he was meant to be paired with his compatriot Jan Vertonghen.
However, Vertonghen has been struggling with injuries and with Kevin Wimmer providing decent starts, it’s been Alderweireld that has been carrying this defence.
The locals at the Tavern are excited to see what will happen with Alderweireld in the future.
