Our resident Celtic fans have been fairly quiet in the Transfer Tavern following the disappointment of their Champions League exit.
Despite this, though, the Bhoys sit eleven points clear of arch-rivals Rangers despite playing two games less and can feel pretty relaxed about the prospect of yet another Scottish Premiership title, which will be their sixth in a row!
The main target for Brendan Rodgers’ in the next two transfer windows will surely be aiming towards getting in Champions League quality to enable progression in next season’s European competition – a prospect that is harder to achieve than first thought.
European nights at Celtic Park are what many of our Bhoys fans here in the Transfer Tavern live for and with rumours of James McCarthy coming in and Moussa Dembele on the way out, the next one could display a rather different looking side.
Here’s how they could line up in 2017, then, according to our landlord…
GK: Craig Gordon

A man under pressure at the start of the season – Brendan Rodgers has seemed to rejuvenate the Scottish international who almost looks a new keeper under his new boss.
RB: Mikael Lustig

Celtic still have not confirmed a new contract for the ever dependable Lustig but with the Swede desperate to stay, it seems unlikely that he will relinquish his starting spot anytime soon.
CB: Kolo Toure

Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern will be furious that Jozo Simunovic looks like he’s on his way with Torino reportedly interested). If this happens, expect Toure to fill in until the end of the season.
CB: Erik Sviatchenko

Sviatchenko looked quality in the Champions League and remains indispensable to Rodgers’ Celtic side. A solid choice at the heart of Celtic’s defence.
LB: Kieran Tierney

Near the end of his recovery from ankle ligament damage, expect exciting prospect Tierney to regain his left back position once fully fit. The Celtic fans in the Transfer Tavern are predicting a move to the Premier League in the near future.
CDM: Scott Brown

The natural leader of this Celtic side, Scott Brown has had another good season for the Hoops which recently saw him make a U-turn on his international retirement. Brown will feature prominently for Celtic and Scotland in 2017.
CDM: James McCarthy

With Everton boss, Ronald Koeman, currently looking at Morgan Schneiderlin as a potential signing – the transfer merry-go-round could see James McCarthy end up at Celtic. The Irish international would surely bring some extra class to Celtic’s side.
RAM: James Forrest

Forrest is a highly thought of winger in Scotland and isn’t scared to take on the opposition full back. He’ll surely be part of the Bhoys’ line up in 2017.
CAM: Tom Rogic

With six goals in 14 league appearances, Rogic is vital to Celtic’s attacking options. The young Australian is a real creative force behind the striker and will look to kick on next year.
LAM: Scott Sinclair

After a superb five goals in his first five appearances, Sinclair has already made himself a fan-favourite.
He returned from injury with a goal against Partick Thistle last time out and will be pivotal to the club’s success in 2017 with his pace and trickery.
ST: Leigh Griffiths

With Moussa Dembele being linked with a move away, Leigh Griffiths could be the man to lead Celtic’s line in 2017. A proven goal scorer in Scotland, Celtic will surely need to maintain the goal scoring quality if they are to succeed in Europe via the former Wolves man.
