Liverpool supporters have been in fine voice in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their side pick up three crucial victories prior to the international break, two of which helped them move up to fifth place in the Premier League table.
Jurgen Klopp’s men comfortably dispatched Huddersfield Town 3-0 little over a fortnight ago before breezing past Champions League whipping-boys Maribor by the same scoreline a few days later, thus setting them up perfectly for their trip to struggling West Ham. And they made it three wins in the space of seven days as a brace from Mohamed Salah as well as strikes from Joel Matip and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain secured an easy 4-1 victory for the Reds, in turn moving them above Arsenal into fifth place in the Premier League.
Subsequently, there has been a huge buzz among our resident Liverpudlians in the Tavern this week, and many are already hugely anticipating their side’s return to league action against Southampton on Saturday as they seek a fourth successive win in all competitions.
However, there has been some frustrating news coming out of Anfield in recent days, namely that defender Nathaniel Clyne looks set for another three months on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on his back.
The England international hasn’t featured at all for Klopp’s team so far this term after suffering the injury during pre-season, with the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez deputising impressively at right-back in his absence.
And news of Clyne’s latest setback has stimulated quite a response from many Liverpool fans on Twitter…
Nathaniel Clyne out for a further 3 months is a huge loss for us
With the busy Christmas period coming up, it would have been good to be able to have more options pic.twitter.com/kkW2Djbd9w

Tough on Clyne. Hard to remember he’s only 26 and should be hitting the prime of his career. Unfortunate timing for a missed season with two hungry, young RBs coming up behind him #LFC

@Nathaniel_Clyne will be out for another 3 months after undergoing a back operation last thing we needed missing an experienced reliable defender this season 🙁 #LFC pic.twitter.com/ACoBdHkZsa

Clyne being ruled out for another 3 months is a concern for the lad. Thankfully right back isn’t our biggest problem. A loss though. #LFC
