Quoted by The Daily Star, Mark Hughes has revealed that Stoke’s Xherdan Shaqiri is unlikely to play against West Ham this weekend much to the disappointment of our Potters fans here in the Transfer Tavern.
The Swiss international suffered a muscle strain in the 3-1 win over Swansea but the club will wait and see today whether he can make tomorrow’s game or not in their final training session.
Though the former Bayern Munich has suffered with inconsistency since moving to the Potteries, there’s little doubt he’s a hugely gifted player and is capable of match-winning moments.
The Welsh manager said of the situation: “He hasn’t trained all week. He’s got a little bit of damage with the hamstring and at this moment he’s struggling to be available.”
The Potters have recovered somewhat from their poor run of form at the start of the season and the win over the Swans made it three victories on the bounce ahead of the clash at the London Stadium.
West Ham have also had a tough start to proceedings but have shown signs of recovery in the last few weeks, despite losing to Everton last time out.
A win for Stoke could see them reach the top seven if other results go their way too.
