The big games just keep on coming in the Premier League this season with Chelsea and Spurs the main focal point for this weekend’s round of fixtures.
The two sides have both played well this season and look good to challenge for the title for the duration of the year so it should be a very entertaining game at Stamford Bridge when the two sides meet.
Chelsea are on a fine streak of form in which they have not conceded a goal in the last six games but will seriously see that tested now Harry Kane is back for Tottenham.
He’s scored three in two games since his return from injury and looks ready to fire when asked this season. He’ll surely, then, remember how the Blues ended Spurs’ title chances last season, too, and will want to avenge that here.
Our landlord reckons that Chelsea need to be on their guard, then, and thinks if Conte mixes up the selection like this, it could cost them the win…
GK Thibaut Courtois
Courtois will need to be on top form to keep Harry Kane and company out and while the Belgian stopper is getting better, still looks some way off the man we saw at Atletico Madrid.
CB Cesar Azpilicueta
The Spaniard has been decent enough out of position but will need to perform here, needs to make sure he’s not overrun.
CB John Terry
It seems odd to suggest but Terry could be the weak link if he plays, Conte can’t upset this defence right now, particularly for a 35-year-old unlikely to feature much longer.
CB Gary Cahill
Cahill has been decent enough recently but this will be a different test to the last few games.
Looked awful before the switch to a three-man defence.
RWB Victor Moses
Moses is enjoying his spell in the team and will need to perform again here, though could well be forced back by the likes of Danny Rose in Spurs’ attack.
CM Cesc Fabregas
Fans were calling for Fabregas to start earlier this season but he can’t now at the risk of disrupting the midfield.
Simply cannot afford a passenger in a game like this.
CM Nemanja Matic
No N’Golo Kante would create huge issues with Spurs boasting the likes of Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama, despite Matic’s recent revival.
LWB Marcos Alonso
Alonso has been decent enough and now he needs to improve his attacking presence and could be in for a busy afternoon as Kyle Walker pushes on at breakneck speed.
RF Oscar
Oscar seemed a Conte favourite but cannot be allowed back in the side right now, considering the magnitude of the game.
LF Eden Hazard
The Belgian has been in fine form and he needs to do the business again against Spurs, something he enjoys doing indeed.
ST Diego Costa
The Spaniard is the Premier League’s top scorer and will want to add to that against Tottenham.
