The Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to keep their Champions League spot alive this evening by beating Bournemouth as they return back to Premier League action.
Chelsea have been indifferent this year so far, many draws and a sprinkle of wins have kept them in the race for the top four. It’s no secret Antonio Conte is looking for another striker and our locals Blues in the bar are hoping it can be done before the window shuts.
Despite putting four past Brighton last time out, Conte will be at the ready to change the team about as he tries to keep things fresh within the squad.
Our regulars think that if Chelsea doesn’t reinforce and keep carrying certain passengers in the team, they may experience a slide down the table at some point in the second half of the season. With that in mind, out landlord takes a look at two players that need to be dropped this week in order to keep the wins coming…
Michy Batshuayi

The forward has struggled in the 18 months he’s been at Stamford Bridge, albeit he’s not been given many chances to shine and to his credit, in that time he has put a fair share of goals away. However, the Belgian doesn’t seem to be in Conte’s plans for the future and the striker always seems to struggle when the Blues need him the most.
Though he’s had flashes of brilliance during his time in west London, it’s just not been often enough.
David Luiz

The Brazilian has had a tough time of it recently and Luiz is not the same player he was on his first time around at Stamford Bridge. Following a rift between himself and the manager Conte earlier in the season, Luiz has enjoyed more bench time with the recent emergence of centre-back Andreas Christensen.
Having one of the worst match ratings of the defenders, it hard to see where Luiz is going to get is next break.
