Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern will be outside the Emirates demanding Arsene Wenger sign some quality players if Jack Wilshere is to leave the Gunners.

Wilshere’s contract is due to run out in the summer and he can leave on a free, however, the midfielder has been at the club since age nine and would surely find it hard to walk away from that easily. Although, Wenger is insisting that Wilshere takes a full medical and a 20% pay cut on his current £90k a week contract, which many of our regulars feel is fully justified given his run of injuries in recent years.

If the English midfielder is to turn down the terms and conditions laid out by the Arsenal boss, then surely he must look to the board to bring in these two players to compensate one of their own leaving.

Wenger must surely be looking to replace stalwart goalkeeper Petr Cech, as they bid to bring a new number one through in between the sticks and 25-year-old Koen Casteels must be high on his shopping list. The Wolfsburg man is having a great season in the Bundesliga despite them languishing in mid-table.

He’s a fantastic passer of the ball from the back which would suit Wenger’s style of play and he would come fairly cheap, which again would suit Wenger’s tight pocketed spending.

Wilfred Ndidi

The Leicester City midfielder could be the next N’Golo Kante and at the tender age of 21, the Nigerian is the type of defensive midfielder Arsenal have been looking for. A rock that sits just in front of the defence intercepting and breaking up the play alongside providing assists, which he has three of already this season, could have a transformative impact in north London.

With Premier League experience to add, Ndidi could be the one signing that would transform the Gunners and make them more than a fourth-placed team.
