If Pellegrino persists with these 2 flops, Southampton are losing to Brighton today

Our Southampton fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to get a long-awaited win under their belts today against Brighton.

The Saints fans have had to wait since November for a Premier League win, which has seen them drop into the relegation zone. Goals have been hard to come by this season and the Southampton locals in the bar will be hoping that new signing Guido Carillo from Monaco can turn their season around.

Southampton have been one of the attractions in the league over the years, playing some decent football and always having a plethora of talent within their squad. However, it seems the years of selling their best players are catching up with them now as they are in a landslide at a rate of knots.

Our regulars think it would be sad to see Southampton relegated after so much hard work and a win against fellow strugglers Brighton can possibly kickstart their season, with that in mind our landlord takes a look at two players that need to warm the bench tonight…

Manolo Gabbiadini

The striker started at Southampton with a bang, but since then he’s largely gone missing. His return of three goals in 23 matches this season so far has highlighted the problem not only he is having but Southampton in general.

Saints fans will be hoping that new signing Carillo will be making his debut and starting his St.Marys career with a goal or two to really ignite the season.

Alex McCarthy

The number two goalkeeper has conceded five goals in his four appearances so far this season and, if Southampton are to stay up, they need a more consistent keeper between the sticks. The key to life in the Premier League is clean sheets, after all.

McCarthy, however good a back up he is, is not of the level Southampton need right now.

Our regulars think a stronger keeper against a struggling Brighton will hopefully provide the clean sheet they need.
