If Sanchez leaves, Arsenal really need to land these two Premier League stars – Agreed?

Share

Our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern are pondering what will be in this winter window, with much of it being made around their two superstars; Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil. Indeed, these are nervous times for our Gunners propping up the bar.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger hasn’t given much away in terms of what the future holds for the Chilean, many of our regulars believe that Man City will come back in for the midfielder after a last-ditch bid was rejected back in the summer. Scary times indeed!

If Sanchez was to leave, Wenger would surely be thinking of strengthening in other areas of the pitch, to secure a top-four finish after missing out for the first time on Champions League football during his 20 year tenure at the club.

Our punters think what Wenger needs is some Premier League experience players to bed straight in at the club, instead of importing from abroad in a bid to find that diamond he always seems to look for.

With that in mind, our landlord takes a look at two players that could make the move to the Emirates Stadium this January…

David Luiz

The Chelsea man is currently out of favour at Stamford Bridge due to a reported bust-up with boss Antonio Conte. Wenger could get the Brazilian at a decent price if Conte is looking to offload him as soon as possible.

Luiz is just the type of defender Wenger needs in his defence, someone who can take the game by the scruff of the neck and start to play from the back. which very much fits in with Arsenal’s ethos. A risky addition, though a potentially wonderful one.

Wilfried Zaha

The former Man United winger had a largely unsuccessful time at Old Trafford before being shipped back to his first club; Crystal Palace. Sinc,e then Zaha has gone from strength to strength, to the point he’s played a pivotal part in turning Palace’s season around.

A pacy left winger with an array of talent and skill might transform the way the Gunners play, and that type of creativity that would have been missing with the departure of Sanchez may be welcomed by the Arsenal faithful.
