Eidur Gudjohnsen is reportedly set to ink a deal with Championship promotion contenders West Ham United.
Providing the the Icelandic striker fits in comfortably with a Championship wage packet there is no doubt he would be an excellent signing for them. Even at 32 years old, you could comfortably forecoast Gudjohnsen scoring 20 goals in the Championship next season.
In regards to both finance and pride, it is imperative the East London club secure immediate promotion and return to the Premier League, where many will agree they rightly belong. They have already made some positive inroads for this task, pulling off a real coup in signing the brilliant Kevin Nolan and securing experienced defender Abdoulaye Faye.
Signing Gudjohnsen would surely also be considered a coup, having spent the last few seasons retaining a Premier League standard of play with Fulham, Stoke City and Tottenham. He would still be welcomed by a clutch of Premier League clubs, with his professional behaviour endearing him to many of his former employers, so for West Ham to secure his signature would be one big financially stable step back towards the Premier League.
