It seems there could be a swap on the cards in London this Summer. Spurs and West Ham are reportedly looking to do business and agree a move that would finally see Scott Parker become a Tottenham player.
The side have made attempts to sign Parker previously but have always failed to secure a deal, it now seems possible that it could finally be sanctioned at the end of the season.
It is reported by tuttomercatoweb and The Guardian that a deal in the offing could now result in Robbie Keane going the other way on a permanent basis, although after some of the sitters that he missed against Chelsea whether the West Ham hierarchy still want him is another story.
Parker has had a stop start career thus far, after breaking through the youth ranks with Charlton, he was part of the spending spree brought about Roman Abramovich and he signed for Chelsea in a deal worth £10million. He failed to break into the first team on a regular basis however and made just 15 appearances before moving on to Newcastle after just one season. He got his career back on track in the North East and after 2 seasons he moved back to London costing West Ham £7million.
His time in the East end has been mixed, his personal form has been fantastic and once again he has been linked to numerous big clubs including Manchester City and Tottenham, however the form of the club has slipped and they are currently stuck in a relegation dog fight.
Robbie Keane has also had a difficult time adapting to a bigger club, his rather farcical period on Merseyside came after he spent a pretty successful portion of his career at Tottenham where he became a real fans favourite. They always say however that in football, you should never go back, but that is exactly what the Irishman did and he never made an impact on his return to White Hart Lane.
In January he was loaned to West Ham to aid their relegation fight and now rumours suggest they want to make it permanent this Summer and are willing to let Parker go the other way to get their man.
I think it is probably fair to suggest that much of this relies on the Hammers fight for survival, whether Robbie Keane wants to become a Championship player should the side be relegated remains to be seen. In terms of Scott Parker I think he would quite fancy the move whether West Ham survive or not, at 30 years old this could be his last crack at playing for a big club and I am sure he wont want to miss it.
Spurs previously offered £7million for the England international, but with the addition of Robbie Keane in the deal it may only take £10million plus the player I would have thought.
Whether Robbie Keane is part of the deal or not, I think Tottenham might finally get their man this Summer and Scott Parker could get one more crack at the big time.
