Introducing: James Forrest’s international display should excite Celtic

Celtic will look to put the pressure on Heart of Midlothian on Saturday when the Scottish Premiership returns to action this weekend.

The Bhoys will face Hamilton Academical in the early kick-off and will look to take a three-point lead at the top of the table before everyone else takes to the pitch, whilst still having a game in hand over their title challengers.

Brendan Rodgers’ side picked up a 0-0 draw against Livingston last time out, but fans will be expecting the side to take full advantage when they head to one of the league’s strugglers.

The Northern Irishman would have been without a number of his squad for the last couple of weeks as the final international break of 2018 has taken place, however, he will have been impressed with the performance of one man in particular.

James Forrest was away on international duty with Scotland over the last fortnight and started both games against Albania and Israel as they won promotion from their Nations League Group.

However, the winger did not only impress for his national side, but he also had a starring role for Alex McLeish’s men in the two fixtures.

The 27-year-old netted twice against Albania before he hit a superb hat-trick against Israel to continue what has been a wonderful season for the wideman.

Forrest has continued to excel for his club as well, having hit six goals in 11 matches in the Scottish Premiership, with a further four assists to his name.

There is no doubt that the Scotland international is an important member of Rodgers’ squad and Celtic’s effort in trying to achieve an eighth title in a row.

And, with performances as he displayed against Albania and Israel, the Bhoys will be excited to see him try and replicate that in their Europa League campaign as well, as they look to progress to the next stage of the competition.
