Introducing: The man to step up in Harry Kane’s absence, Vincent Janssen

Tottenham Hotspur now find themselves firmly in the race for the Premier League title after Liverpool’s slip-up against West Ham United last time out.

Spurs have been rather impressive in recent times, despite Dele Alli and Harry Kane’s absence.

Interestingly, it appears as if the North London club’s squad just received a boost, as according to The Evening Standard, Vincent Janssen will be added to Tottenham’s Premier League squad.

So, perhaps the Dutch international will finally find his feet for Spurs in the Premier League, with the perfect opportunity to support Kane, as well as aiding their title push.

Harry Kane has been the standout performer for Spurs in the current campaign once again, with 20 goals to his name in all competitions at this moment in time. However, he’s currently spending time out on the sidelines after picking up an injury, but it looks like he could return in time for the Champions League clash this month.

The England international has struggled for support at the pinnacle of the attack throughout the current campaign, with Fernando Llorente still looking unconvincing in front of goal, so Mauricio Pochettino should now turn to Janssen after including him in his Premier League squad.

Interestingly, the Dutchman was Spurs’ marquee signing back in the summer of 2016 but he just wasn’t able to live up to expectations during his first season at the club, which resulted in him being sent out on loan to Turkish side Fenerbahce for the entirety of the 2017-18 campaign.

But, he has been very impressive in the club’s Under-23 side recently, scoring goals against Athletic club and Norwich City, so he’s bang in-form at this moment in time. He may not have impressed up until this point in the first-team ranks but he’s shown that he can find the back of the net consistently, both in Holland and recently here.

So, Kane could soon have less pressure on his shoulders with Janssen possibly lightening the load by making the most of his inclusion in Pochettino’s Premier League squad. And, with the Englishman not back in action for at least another week, perhaps he can make a name for himself before he returns.
