Celtic enter tonight’s match against Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig knowing that their European season hangs in the balance.
A loss is not the end of the world, but it does make their job that bit harder. Unfortunately for manager Brendan Rodgers, midfielder James Forrest is suspended after picking up a red card in the last European tie.
The midfielder has been in superb form recently for The Hoops, and will be sorely missed by the Scottish champions, particularly as this may be their most important game of the season to date.
Luckily for the Northern Irishman, he still has plenty of players at his disposable to call upon. One of which is neglected winger Scott Sinclair.
The English winger has had a torrid start to the season, getting barely any starts, and having to rely on bench appearances. However, this may be the stage where he could impress Rodgers again. Sinclair is the closest thing to a like-for-like replacement for Forrest, and will mean The Bhoys don’t lose any of their attacking potency.
It is hard to believe that the former Man City man would be struggling for game time after collecting the PFA Scotland Players’ Player of the Year, the SFWA Footballer of the Year, the Celtic Players’ Player of the Year and the Celtic Supporters’ Player of the Year awards only two seasons ago. However, he will be desperate to make his way back into Rodgers’ reckoning again and tonight may be the perfect platform to do so.
