It’s been quite a challenging few months to 2018 for our Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern, as they have fallen out of the race for the top-four and they look like a team in serious trouble.

Antonio Conte is still at the helm inside Stamford Bridge, but for how long nobody in the pub knows. With the pressure rising seemingly by the match, our regulars believe that it won’t be long before we see another new appointment at Stamford Bridge – something that is now the norm.

Many names as always have been linked to the job, but it’s going to take a special type of manager to turn things around with the team looking and playing like strangers for the majority of the time.

Conte, our barman feels, has taken them as far as he can. After winning the Premier League in his first season, the second season has been a real eye-opener for the Italian who is seemingly suffering from the recent EPL champions curse. With that in mind, our landlord has taken it upon himself to have a look around Europe at potential suitors for the Chelsea hot seat next season…

Luis Enrique

The former Barcelona man has taken the traditional sabbatical after leaving the Nou Camp to revitalise himself, and it’s Chelsea that could benefit from a fresh Luis Enrique. Through tough spells at Roma and Celta Vigo, it prepared him for the Barcelona job. After a rocky start with the results and players, he managed to turn things around and ended up winning the treble in his first season and a double during the season after.

This type of winning mentality is a must at Stamford Bridge and the fans would likely love to see the Spaniard in charge.

Massimiliano Allegri

The Juventus coach replaced Conte at the Old Lady when he moved on to take the Italian job, before taking over at Chelsea. Since then, Allegri has won back-to-back Serie A titles and he looks on course to make it a hat-trick, to match Conte’s achievement between 2011-2014.

His managerial brilliance was on display at Wembley recently as he masterfully crafted a comeback for his team against the Blues rivals Tottenham, which will please the fans already. Allegri could be a decent option to follow in Conte footsteps again this summer, and the Juve coach would bring with him that winning mindset that all Chelsea bosses need.
