Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are still feeling as though they can win the league this season but want to see some serious work done in January.
The Reds drew last time out with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in a game that highlighted just how much they need improvements to their squad as a whole.
Whilst the first XI is one of the strongest around their lack of depth has to be alarming and if they are to win the crown they so desperately want they need to sort that out in this window.
With Champions League football potentially on the cards next season, too, the Anfield club need to start investing now and our landlord reckons there’s no time like the present to get going with deals.
That’s why, then, he reckons these two players should be brought in within the next few days…
Emil Forsberg
The Reds are apparently looking at the young winger according to The Sun in a deal that has all the hallmarks of a successful Jurgen Klopp move.
The young Swede has made quite the name for himself this season in the Bundesliga for the equally as impressive Red Bull Leipzig side and Klopp will likely feel he can get the best out of him. He should only improve, and is the kind of player Liverpool’s owners – FSG – go for.
Virgil Van Dijk

The feeling amongst many here in the Transfer Tavern is that if they’d sign someone like Van Dijk they’d have a very good chance of wining the league.
For sure, the Reds weakness has been their defence this season and the Dutchman would undoubtedly help sort that out. He reads the game very well and would add another calming presence alongside Joel Matip who himself has helped the Reds out at the back. The Daily Star – amongst others – has suggested this one could happen.
