As starts go, Burnley have done okay in their re-introduction back to the Premier League, and their supporters here in the Transfer Tavern are fairly happy!

It was always going to be a tough season for the Clarets who are never blessed with the biggest budget.

But sitting in 14th with a win over Liverpool and a draw against Manchester United is a pretty decent start indeed.

In manager Sean Dyche, they have a man who is more than capable of keeping his team up and if they can keep scrapping for points here and there whilst remaining solid at home, they should be okay.

But in the defeats the Clarets have suffered this season, it’s been clear at times that there are some players in this Burnley side that aren’t helping the cause as much as some others.

So with that in mind, here’s THREE Burnley players who could be facing the axe very soon indeed…

Tendayi Darikwa

Tendayi Darikwa is a player who was widely tipped to be one of the best young attacking full-backs when he was at Chesterfield as a youngster.

He made over 125 appearances in a five year spell with the Spireites, but this season at Burnley, he’s seriously struggled to break into the first-team.

He’s featured only once, and that was in the disappointing 1-0 defeat to Accrington Stanley in the EFL Cup earlier this season.

Now 24, he needs more game-time and the axe could be coming his way.

Patrick Bamford

It’s been a tough couple of years for Chelsea forward Patrick Bamford who is currently serving a loan deal with Burnley.

But with his game-time being seriously limited on the pitch, many are wondering why Sean Dyche doesn’t just cut the loan deal short.

With Andre Gray now back from his ban, it’s difficult to see the young forward featuring much at all this season.

George Boyd

Veteran forward George Boyd is always going to be a solid enough option going forward but Burnley are struggling for goals and the former Peterborough man isn’t contributing enough.

He’s been featuring regularly for the Clarets over the past couple of months but is still yet to score this season, which is a slight concern.

He huffs and puffs all game but going forward, he’s not bringing the quality the Clarets need.

If they have any chance of surviving this season, an alternative might be a better option, signalling the end for George Boyd.
