Our Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are expecting a huge turn around at the club over the course of the summer, with many of the big names fighting for their careers after such a shocking 2018 for the Blues.

Antonio Conte, it seems is on borrowed time at Stamford Bridge, with results and performances not exactly going his way, despite leading the club to a Premier League title win in his first season in charge. Alongside the manager, many of the players need to up their game also, having only won three Premier League games so far this calendar year. This has seen them drop out of the top-four and now looks likely to miss out on Champions League football next year so, all around Stamford Bridge, there is a sense that the whole club needs a revamp.

Our Blues in the bar are looking at the remaining couple of months of the season as a chance for some players to really stake their claim, as to why they should be at the club next season. Indeed their first priority now should be winning the FA Cup, and with their recent form since the turn of the year, this is going to be an uphill task.

Our landlord takes a look at TWO players that Conte should be looking to move on in the summer after an awful season…

David Luiz

The Brazilian had, earlier in the season, been left out of Conte’s plans after the pair were reportedly involved in a bust-up over tactics. Ever since then, following an injury, the Brazilian defender has struggled to find a regular place in the team with young and impressive Andreas Christensen taking his chance in the team.

It must be time to put his Chelsea years behind him now and move forward into his twilight years with a fresh start.

Tiemoue Bakayoko

The summer signing hasn’t impressed the majority of the locals in the bar this season and many believe there are much better options out there within the Chelsea squad. Some say that it takes certain players a good year to adjust to the rigours of Premier League life, and maybe next season he could come good.

However, Chelsea cannot afford to take the gamble on another season and may need to move the midfielder on in order to release funds for further signings.
