Chelsea have lost their way completely in recent times as they narrowly escaped defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers and were on the receiving end of an Everton masterclass yesterday.
The Blues’ Champions League hopes are slowly slipping away with Arsenal starting to accelerate, but one thing that will fill fans with hope is the recent Europa League draw as Chelsea were drawn against Slavia Praha.
One thing that has been worrying supporters in recent times has been Eden Hazard’s future as the Belgian has been linked with a move to Real Madrid for some time now.
And, to make matters worse, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp recently claimed that Chelsea missing out on Champions League football would give Hazard an excuse to leave.
“Hazard is the key. He went to Chelsea for the Champions League but if they don’t get in it this year then it gives him an excuse to leave. He seems incredibly loyal and obviously loves the club, but he has a real predicament if they don’t get into the Champions League, and so do the club, because it’s an opportunity to cash in, but you can’t buy anybody to replace him.”
Eden Hazard, who is valued at £135 million (by Transfermarkt), has been the standout performer for Chelsea once again in the current campaign having produced an incredible 16 goals and 11 assists in all competitions. The Belgian has popped up with goals at crucial times this season and Maurizio Sarri’s side would be struggling without him, so keeping him this summer is vital.
Although, failing to secure Champions League football may just mean that he ends up departing as he’s far too good to be playing in the Europa League, as one of the best in world football.
