The Rangers fans in the Transfer Tavern aren’t quite sure about what to make of their start to Pedro Caixinha’s first full campaign in charge of the club.

While many of them believe the Portuguese’s many summer arrivals need time to bed in, it’s been a mixed opening period to domestic action for Caixinha.

Up next, the Gers welcome Neil McCann’s Dundee to Ibrox on Saturday as they look to close the gap on early league leaders Aberdeen. Indeed, the Light Blues coming off a good win over Ross County in the last round of league fixtures and optimism is certainly abound ahead of Saturday.

Having already dropped five points prior to their visit to Dingwall, it’s important Rangers keep the pressure off their manager.

With that in mind, those propping up our bar have been discussing exactly how Caixinha should line-up as former Ibrox favourite McCann returns for the first time as a manager.

So far, here’s what they’ve come up with ahead of Saturday’s game against Dundee.

GK: Wes Foderingham

Seems to be one of the few stalwarts of Mark Warburton’s era kept on by Pedro Caixinha and few would doubt his class at his level.

Still, could do with tuning up his work when it comes to collecting crosses.

RB: James Tavernier

One of the best right-backs plying his trade in Scotland, Tavernier’s ramping runs up and down the right flank are a major figure in Rangers’ brand of football.

Should enjoy plenty of the ball as the Gers look to move the opposition from side to side.

CB: Fabio Cardosa

Hasn’t always looked wholly convincing as he adapts to life in Scotland, though that is to be expected.

Needs a big performance in front of the Ibrox crowd to get used to life in the SPFL.

CB: Bruno Alves

Easily the player of the highest pedigree in the Rangers squad, Euro 2016 winner Bruno Alves recovered from an illness to feature for Portugal over the course of the international break.

Once he gets fully up and running, he should be able to deal with Dundee’s strikers rather easily.

LB: Declan John

Rangers’ deadline day signing could be given a starting berth over skipper Lee Wallace. The Welshman joined on loan from Cardiff just before the window shut and could provide a similar sort of outlet to Tavernier on the other side of the park.

RM: Daniel Candeias

Candeias looks to be building a good relationship with Tavernier on the right-hand side and the latter’s overlapping of the Portuguese could give Dundee’s presumably defensive set-up an awful lot to think about.

CM: Ryan Jack

Building a strong central midfield partnership with the man we’re about to mention, summer signing Ryan Jack looks to be a lynchpin of Ibrox in the making.

A solid defensive shield at this level.

CM: Graham Dorrans

Endured a fairly quiet time of things up at Ross County, though is a serious threat at this level. Has a wonderful knack for arriving late in the box and the Scotland international can turn a game at any moment.

LM: Carlos Peña

With Niko Kranjcar having looked rather sloppy in Dingwall, Carlos Peña should be handed a starting berth at Ibrox. The Mexican will take some time to adapt, as he proved with a late miss after coming on as a substitute, but needs some game time.

ST: Kenny Miller

Knows this league inside and out and is an effective talisman for Caixinha’s side. Won’t play every week, but creates a huge amount of space for the man we’re about to mention.

Perhaps Rangers’ most important player.
