After reaching the Champions League final last season, losing out to Spanish giants Real Madrid, things certainly seem on the up for Liverpool. However, Klopp must not underestimate West Ham United, who his Liverpool side face on the opening day.
The Irons have heavily strengthened in this transfer window. The East London side have wasted no time in this transfer window. Jack Wilshere has joined up the Hammers, and has been followed by a host of talented players. Indeed, they have signed the likes of winger Andriy Yarmolenko, and Felipe Anderson has joined for a club record fee.
The quality and volume of additions made by West Ham means they will certainly be no pushovers. The 6ft 4 Issa Diop is a tremendous athlete, as well as a talented footballer. Getting past the West Ham defence will be no simple task, even for players the standard of Mohamed Salah.
West Ham will travel to Anfield looking to prove themselves and make things difficult for Klopp’s Liverpool. Klopp will need to find a way of controlling the game, and not letting West Ham break up the play too much.
With that in mind, Klopp needs to make sure these two stars join up before they face West Ham…
