Our Chelsea fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping manager Antonio Conte can come up with more goods in the winter window before it shuts on Wednesday.

The Blues captured Ross Barkley at the start of the window and are hoping to add more to the list of names that come in. However, surely Conte must want to try and offload some deadwood hanging around Stamford Bridge according to our regulars anyway.

Chelsea is run more like a business nowadays than it has been over the years much to the delight of some of the blues in the bar, but they do miss the days where they thought nothing of throwing money around in order to bring success to the club.

However, with balancing the books comes players that can become surplus and are needed off the wage bill, and our landlord has drawn up two men that Conte simply needs to move on before Wednesday night…

Michy Batshuayi

The striker is in poor form and things haven’t really taken off for the ‘Batman’ at Stamford Bridge. With the World Cup year in full flow, Batshuayi will only have one thing on his mind, and that’s to get on the plane to Russia.

Chelsea have been in desperate need of a backup striker but Conte as opted to play a false nine rather than the striker when Morata’s out. To our punters, this speaks volumes and it must be hitting the Belgian hard.

David Luiz

The Brazilian hasn’t ever really recovered from the public spat he had with his manager. Since then Luiz has been injured and fallen further behind in the pecking order to rising star Andreas Christensen and Luiz’ second spell at the Bridge hasn’t gone as well as he had hoped.

Indeed, as he continues to age and young blood is ready to nip in his spot, it seems that time is up for the Brazilian defender.
