Leeds United: Danny Mills discusses Raphinha following transfer rumours

Leeds United winger Raphinha has had a solid first season in the Premier League, and it has not gone unnoticed as the the winger has been recently linked to Liverpool. Danny Mills has discussed the Brazilian and these rumours.

What Mills had to say about Raphinha

Danny Mills was speaking to Football Insider about the exciting winger, saying: “You have to wait until the offers come in, that’s the most important thing. It’s all well and good saying people are looking, clubs are interested, but to what extent? Liverpool are looking at every single team in the Premier League week in, week out.

“That’s what you have to consider. Yes, he’s played well. He’s had some very, very good games. But someone needs to put some money down on the table first. Where does he fit into that Liverpool side with Jota coming back into it? You’ve got Salah, Mane, Firmino. He’s got to think he might go there and not play, and is that what he wants?

“Undoubtedly, he’s a very, very talented player. But a lot of those clubs will also be thinking that it’s only been 10 games that we’ve seen that. So, yes, they’ll all be looking at him and seeing how he does from now until the end of the season.

“He’s had 10 good games, maybe three outstanding games. And two or three good performances don’t get you a move in this day and age.”

Leeds have a real talent in their squad

Earlier this season, Phil Hay waxed lyrical about the Brazilian, tweeting out: ‘Raphinha btw. Seventeen million squids. Bargain.’ It is easy to see why he said this too – in his 18 appearances (three from the bench), the 24-year-old has picked up four goals and five assists (Transfermarkt), a fantastic return for a young player in a new league with a promoted team.

His underlying attacking stats show that he is unlucky not to have more goals too, as he has managed 2.3 shots, 1.7 key passes and 1.5 successful dribbles a game (WhoScored) – stats that rank him highly among his teammates (he’s second for shots and key passes and right at the top for dribbles).

With all this taken into account, the club need to do everything to hold on to Raphinha as he looks to be a good talent and has the potential to become even better in the near future.
