Sky Sports pundit David Prutton thinks Leeds may not be able to turn their positive performance in the recent defeat to Arsenal into three points against Sheffield Wednesday as they return to Championship action.
Their slender FA Cup defeat means they can focus entirely on their quest for promotion, but Prutton has backed Garry Monk’s out-of-form Wednesday side to cause another upset after they knocked Premier League Brighton out of the cup last week.
Despite tomorrow’s visitors heading into the game off the back of three straight league defeats, Prutton believes Leeds will be denied the chance to take all three points in tomorrow’s Yorkshire derby, predicting a 2-2 draw at Elland Road.
Making his predictions for the Championship this weekend for Sky Sports, Prutton said: “Leeds were brilliant for 45 minutes against Arsenal in the FA Cup on Monday night, and their fans will be hoping that’s a sign of things to come next season.
“They are top of the league and have a big gap to third, but need to focus on the job at hand. Sheffield Wednesday had a really poor festive season, losing their last three on the spin. Despite their poor form, I fancy them to get a point.”
With the two clubs experiencing contrasting results last week in the FA Cup, perhaps a knock-on effect for both teams is what Prutton is relying on, here.
Having gone to the Amex Stadium and won, it appears getting a result at Leeds would not be beyond Sheffield Wednesday, while they held Marcelo Bielsa’s side in their previous meeting back in October.

Meanwhile, Leeds have only conceded twice in one game on four occasions in the league this season – though three of those instances have occurred within the past month, which suggests their stout defence is far more fallible than it has been this term.
Therefore, Prutton’s belief Leeds’ backline could be breached multiple times on Saturday may actually follow the form book – especially with the Whites winning just one of their previous five Championship matches.
