Leigh Griffith’s scored the decisive goal at St Johnstone last night to send his side through the Scottish League Cup semi-final at Hampden Park and you’d think the fans would be idolising the striker. That isn’t the case, though, as Griffiths spurned a number of chances before eventually slotting in the winner and the fans have been questioning their forward.
There are not many people who doubt Leigh Griffiths is a goal getter. The Scottish striker has it in him to find the net when it matters and he did show that last night. For The Hoops, it’s just the fact that he passed up so many chances before eventually bagging the winner. In truth, the game could have been three or four nil in favour of Brendan Rodgers’ side if Griffiths was on his game and the fans will hope he can sharpen up soon.
When Celtic sanctioned the sale of Moussa Dembele to Lyon late on in the transfer window the Bhoys were fuming. They rightfully didn’t want to be heading into a Scottish Premier League season with just Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths as their two strikers and it seems they’re now being proved right as the pair are failing to convince people that they can cut it at the top level of Scottish football without the assistance and added goal that Dembele brought to the side.

Mind when Celtic fans used to argue that Griffiths was better than Dembele…. Aye good

Griffiths and Eduord aren’t good enough for Celtic. All these people who think Griffiths is better than Dembele are deluded!

The Hoops will be desperate to get to January and bring a striker in as soon as possible as they continue to struggle with Griffiths.
