Less than a month to go: Stoke City should move quickly to sign at least 1 of these 3 players

Stoke fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern have seen their side make a quiet start to the transfer window this summer.

Their squad obviously possess a lot of talent, but the Potters activity in the transfer market has disappointed the Stoke section in the Transfer Tavern, who have only seen the loan signing of Kurt Zouma as the only transfer action from their club.

With Marko Arnautovic departing the club as well, our landlord believes that Mark Hughes needs to show his intent sooner rather than later, otherwise it will result in his Stoke side falling behind their rivals in this season’s Premier League.

Obviously, this means that player recruitment will be the order of the day but our landlord has warned Hughes need to act fast with around a month to go, especially when panic buying sees so many flops arrive at clubs with Stoke’s stature.

This means that Mark Hughes really has to be careful when deciding which player he signs.

Of course, this has started a debate in the Tavern and our resident Potters have been discussing the major decisions their club needs to make in the last month of the transfer window.

Let’s take a look at their findings here…

Fabian Delph

With Mark Hughes already confirming his interest in the Manchester City man, our resident Potters in the Tavern are flummoxed to as why their gaffer has not finalised this deal yet.

Delph is certainly out of favour under Pep Guardiola and signing him should not be the issue should Stoke stump up the £14million fee that the Citizens are demanding for the player. The Englishman must become a priority for Hughes in this transfer window following the departure of Glenn Whelan to Aston Villa.

Andre Carrillo

With Marko Arnautovic leaving the club in his £25million move to West Ham, Stoke must now make signing Andre Carrillo a priority following the interest in the winger from many other Premier League clubs.

The Peruvian winger is available at a cut price £6million and given the sorts of fees flying around in this Summer’s transfer window, Carrillo must be high on Hughes’ list to replace Arnautovic.

James Collins

In what would be a shock move, it seems that Mark Hughes is lining up a surprise move for James Collins as the West Ham defender seems to be surplus to requirements at the London Stadium for the upcoming season.

Stoke have had bids accepted before for the Welsh international and with Ryan Shawcross’ future not being so certain, our landlord believes Collins’ style of play will suit the Potters down to the ground.
