As clubs around them continue to stash their squads together ahead of the 2017/18 season, Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Tavern are left lingering and wondering where on earth any sort of challenge will come from this year.
With the new White Hart Lane swiftly on the horizon, you would think this was the best time to be a Spurs supporter but a dismal transfer window up to this point has made them ponder whether owner Daniel Levy really does want to continue their recent trend of battling for the league.
The tavern’s bar man is an eager follower of the north London outfit and is highly-anticipating Champions League football returning to the club, potentially aiming to advance further than the disappointing exit they received following the difficult group stage last term.
Now with less than a month to go, Tottenham Hotspur supporters will be demanding Mauricio Pochettino acts quickly to land his targets instead of following rivals to accumulate the numbers.
Here are three players the Football Transfer Tavern thinks Spurs should tie down as soon as possible, with at least one arriving……
Suso

Erik Lamela’s continuous injury proneness and Moussa Sissoko’s unquestionably depressing form as a Tottenham Hotspur player means the club must act to replace these two lingering first-team players.
AC Milan starlet Suso has been a keen target for boss Mauricio Pochettino and the Tavern’s landlord says the 23-year-old should be at the top of Spurs’ transfer list between now and when the window slams shut.
A considerable flop for Premier League side Liverpool, Suso has become an integral part of Milan’s team and it may take a gigantic sum of money to prize him away from the San Siro, but it is a fee Spurs have to invest in.
Adrien Rabiot

Pochettino’s search for a dribbling central-midfielder has been somewhat of a dragging transfer story this summer with the manager aiming to add someone very similar to Moussa Dembele’s stature.
This has led to Tottenham Hotspur being linked with Paris Saint-Germain youth Adrien Rabiot, 22, and the fans by the bar have suggested this is certainly a target the club should continue to pursue this window.
Rabiot has plied his trade in the French capital since his move from Toulouse in 2013 and this upcoming campaign is set to be his breakthrough term to become a regular starter for the Ligue 1 title challengers.
According to the tavern’s Spurs-mad bar man, Spurs unquestionably need an extra man in the midfield area and the Frenchman’s effort matches that of the club’s ethos, so it really is a no brainer.
Serge Aurier

Taking no credit away from the reliable Kieran Tripper, Tottenham Hotspur desperately need a right-back replacement for Kyle Walker and it has come to no surprise that the tavern sees Mauricio Pochettino considering Serge Aurier as an option.
The 24-year-old’s obvious pace is what Spurs are absent of now their man has switched to top-flight rivals Manchester City and it could certainly demonstrate the London side’s ambitions if they were to capture this sought-after defender.
With many Spurs fans in the tavern thinking Tripper should be first-choice because of the number of assists he can evidently provide, however, Aurier is also one for such contributions having racked up four from a defensive position last year.
Tottenham Hotspur fans, would you welcome any of these three signings? If you were forced to choose one, which player should be added to the ranks in north London? Tell us your thoughts in the comment section below!
